Kaukoputki is Kaukokiito's free online service that serves all our customers, regardless of which order channel they use. This means that each of our customers can utilise Kaukoputki’s diverse functions to manage their supply chain.

 

Our business customers can use Kaukoputki to calculate transport costs, place transport orders, send shipping documents and tracking information to the recipient, track incoming and outgoing consignments, check transport schedules, manage their address book and download copies of invoices, for example. It is a versatile tool that serves users working in different roles within our customer companies: dispatch, logistics decision-makers, sales, finances and customer service.

 

Kaukoputki is best suited as a transport order channel for companies whose daily shipment volume can be calculated on the fingers of two hands. However, as a tool to facilitate supply chain management, it also provides comprehensive information and functionality for our customers who order their transport through another service – for example a price calculator, shipment tracking, shipping documents and invoice copies, as well as the possibility to edit transport orders. Kaukoputki can also be used to track shipments from other order channels.

 

Kaukoputki serves the sender company as well as the recipients. In our web service, the recipients of the shipments can track the progress of the shipments and view shipping lists, among other things. Year after year, Kaukoputki receives praise in its customer satisfaction surveys, especially for its clarity and ease of use. Kaukoputki can be used on all devices.

New Kaukoputki improves user experience

 

Kaukoputki is being developed at our own technology unit. Our decision to keep it in-house makes it possible for our development work to be strongly connected to our customers’ everyday needs.

 

We expect to release a new revamped Kaukoputki at the turn of 2024-2025. The development work of the web service has focused in particular on improving the user experience, a more instructional user interface and the visualisation of data. For example, you will be able to view the status of your shipments more quickly in the future.

 

In addition to the existing functions, the new Kaukoputki will gradually include new functionalities, such as making claims for transport damage, communications and reporting. In the future, Kaukoputki will provide real-time delivery reliability, emission reports and a wealth of other transport-specific data. With the new features, the web service will serve people working in different roles in our customer companies even more broadly.
